Convergence

Next week is Annual quilt Festival where I will be teaching "Convergence" which is a method of converging 4 pieces of fabric together to make a neat art quilt. I am teaching "Tropical Convergence" which is the parrot one above. However, Between February (when I sent in my proposal) and August (when It was accepted and people actually signed up to take the class) the parrot fabric became obsolete.
This is a problem since I agreed to make kits. So I made "Harvest Convergence" above

Converging Bats
and "Converging Apples and Bluebirds" to entice people to want a kit for them instead. So I have lots of kits and I just hope people will be ok about this.

I am also teaching a beading class and was not able to find the same ribbon I used for the sample. I really don't want to do this again!

I just want next week to be OVER!

  1. The best way to make these experiences you keep having stop, is to quit quilting.
I have never felt the frustration of not being able to find a certain fabric more than once, in fact, I have never had to find a certain fabric ever, and therefore I am looking forward to next week.
    Simple solution.

  2. You are an over-achiever (as if we didn't already all know that). I think all your quilts look great and I hope everyone appreciates the work you've done for this class...you really should be paid for this kind of thing. Are you?

  3. MOM! YOu seriously made ALL those different quilts just to entice people to want to make them? Of course they're going to be fine making them. I think you just should have made one other one and said- this is the quilt we're making. I can't even imagine how much TIME those took! And I'm with Joe...if you always dread these kinda things...stop volunteering for them. Just quit everything else and then you can just work on that cool Dear Jane quilt and relax more. Love you

  6. Han, I was totally cool with Lindsi calling me Mom and all the rest. It sounded just like her.
    How funny.

  7. Phew! I was starting to get nervous that for the last nine years I hadn't realized that Joe had another sister named Lindsi. The quilts look AMAZING. I love that look. I'm glad you are posting pictures because I am always telling people how cool your quilts look and now I can show them.

  8. You are so talented, it's gross! No really, you say you can't wait till it's over because it's been so much work, but you know deep down inside, that you'll do it again-you're addicted!

  9. Yes, your kids are very funny!! What would life be like without a healthy dose of sarcasm? And your classes will be so much fun... I loved it when you taught us the convergence technique. It is hard when too many things hang over your head sometimes... even if it is the things you love...

  10. One thing I've learned about over achievers is that the quality of the finished product is equal to the amount of stress involved in the preparation (and vise versa). So based on those pictures, you must be reeeeaaaalllly stressed! The quilts look awesome mom! Tell Lindsi and the rest of my siblings "Hi" for me.

  11. Those are amazing!!! You are so crazy talented that it is a bit sickening. LOL I don't think you have anything to worry about because after seeing your quilt everyone is going to want one. I esspecially love the fall and Halloween ones because this is my favorite time of year. Thanks for taking the pictures and sharing them. Love ya, Chandra
